Rational Approximation to Full-Wave Modeling of Underground Cables
نویسندگان
چکیده
The full-wave model of underground cables is presented. The solutions of this model in frequency domain, applied in underground insulated, cable is evaluated. To allow the inclusion of this formulation in EMT programs a rational vector fitting of the propagation constant, characteristic admittance Yc and the propagation function H in frequency domain is presented. The simulations in time domain is carried out considering different soil models. The results are compared with those obtained using a conventional quasi-TEM (Transverse Electro-Magnetic) approximation. This comparison shows that the quasi-TEM approximation can provide a good approximation for all the considered soil models.

Calculation of Underground Cables Frequency- Dependent Parameters Using Full-Wave Modal Analysis
In this paper a new method has been proposed for calculating the frequency-dependent parameters of underground cables. The method uses full-wave formulation for calculating the modal electromagnetic fields and corresponding voltages and currents and then extracting frequency-dependent per-unitlength parameters of underground cables. The proposed method can be used for any cross-sectional shape ...

With the rapid growth of indoor wireless communication systems, the need to accurately model radio wave propagation inside the building environments has increased. Many site-specific methods have been proposed for modeling indoor radio channels. Among these methods, the ray tracing algorithm and the finite-difference time domain (FDTD) method are the most popular ones. The ray tracing approach ...

This paper investigates the lightning impulse duty for 400 kV underground power cables using EMTP/ATP and re-assesses the recommended design level based on probabilistic analysis. The work is a part of a larger investigation that will study by computer simulation, the full range of transient overvoltages due to lightning, switching, faults and other temporary overvoltages (TOV) on cables within...
متن کاملTowards Broadband over Power Lines Sys- Tems Integration: Transmission Character- Istics of Underground Low-voltage Distri- Bution Power Lines
A complete methodology is employed to determine the transmission characteristics of low-voltage/broadband over power lines (LV/BPL) channels associated with underground power distribution networks, in the light of the multiconductor transmission line (MTL) theory. The established bottom-up approach, already used to treat overhead and underground MV/BPL transmission, is extended to analyze BPL t...
متن کاملDilution Risk Ranking in Underground Metal Mines using Multi-Attributive Approximation Area Comparison
The contamination of ores with wastes or materials of lower than the cut-off grade is referred to as dilution. Dilution is an undesirable phenomenon that, on one hand, reduces the product grade and, consequently, reduces the sales prices and, on the other hand, adds an extra cost to waste production. Therefore, studying and evaluating the dilution risk is important in mining, and especially in ...
